Information for Parents

  • Late registrations (after 3/22) will pay an additional $10 and a spot on the team will not be guaranteed.
  • Once the game schedules are underway, no program refunds will be given.
  • Players must register at current grade level.
  • “Resident” players include any players who are currently living within the Village of Kohler. “Non-resident” players include any players from surrounding communities who choose to play with the Kohler Recreation Department teams/program.
  • Coaches will announce practice/play schedules after March 22.

Concussion Awareness

Talk with your children and teens about concussions. Tell them to report their concussion symptoms to you and their coach right away. Brain injury can be very serious and can affect a child or teen for a lifetime. It can even be fatal. Download and read the CDC’s Concussion Fact Sheet with your child before practices begin. SPRING BOARD DIVING June 10 – August 2, 2024 (days may be removed for Holidays and coaches schedule, with notice)

Develop the skills for Spring Board Diving. Beginners will learn the basics of diving, including stretching, body alignment and water entries. Advanced will build on beginner skills and advance towards competitive dive skills.

Grades 5-8 (limit 10 participants per class)

Beginner 11am-12pm     Advanced 12-1:30pm     Monday-Thursday

Cost $90 Village of Kohler Resident/$105 Non-Resident

WIAA High School (Grades 9-12, 24/25 school year) – limit 12 participants

The instructor reserves the right to move a swimmer to a different level to ensure his/her swimming needs are being met.

CLASS LEVELS
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills: Offers swimmers the first opportunity to learn basic water adjustment skills. Students will learn to fully submerge for 5 seconds, supported front and back float, and supported kicking on front and back. (30 min.)
Level 2 Fundamental Water Skills: This level develops the flutter kick, free floating, combined stroke on front and back and treading. Will learn to swim independently. (30 min.)
Level 3 Stroke Development: This level coordinates rhythmic breathing for front crawl stroke, butterfly kick and survival float. Build upon endurance. (45 min.)
Level 4 Stroke Improvement: Endurance, elementary backstroke and breaststroke kick. Introduces butterfly and scissors kicks and standing dives. (45 min.)
Level 5 Stroke Refinement: Refines coordination and increases endurance of the front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. Sidestroke, flip turns and surface dives introduced. (45 min.)
Level 6 Skill Proficiency: Review of all the major swim strokes. Prepares swimmers for advanced courses or for competitive swimming. (45 min.)

Youth Swim Club
Grades 3-8
Minimum 10/Maximum 36 participants
This training team is designed to teach the skills needed to become a successful competitive swimmer. Coaches work to improve swimmers’ endurance and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Focus on advancing skills in competitive strokes, endurance, starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim 100 yards continuously and have knowledge of competitive swim strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Must have passed level 3 swimming lessons to participate.

ADULT AQUATIC EXERCISE CLASSES

Water in Motion
A vertical exercise program in waist to chest deep water. Using hand buoys and noodles to enhance our goals to improve cardiovascular conditioning and better muscular endurance and balance. An ideal choice for healthy individuals and those affected by medical conditions. People who may be too embarrassed to exercise on land can more comfortably work out in the water.

Deep Water Aerobics
1-hour medium to high intensity workout. All participants are required to wear a provided flotation belt. With that, the class is appropriate for non-swimmers to accomplished water enthusiasts. Our goals are to improve cardiovascular endurance and muscular endurance. Additional equipment provided includes ankle weights, hand buoys and noodles.

Saturday Morning Water Aerobics
A high-energy class will encompass the entire pool.

YOUTH THEATER SUMMER WORKSHOP
Seussical Jr
“Oh the thinks you can think!” when Dr. Seuss’ best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny creatures known as Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird. Although he faces ridicule and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Learn musical theater from professional teaching artists Mrs. Sheila Ryan and Ms. Eva Stokes. No experience or audition is required, and every participant gets a part. Students must be 8 years old by the first day of the workshop and should have a 3rd grade reading level.

YOGA AND MINDFULNESS
Explore yoga and mindfulness using art, movement and imagination! Led by Megan Drevline, RCYT.
All sessions at Lost Woods Park shelter. All students required to bring their own mats.
Cost: $65 resident/$75 non-resident

Session 1: Peace and Love Yoga Camp for Mini Yogis
June 24-27, 1:30-3pm
This camp is for kids entering 2nd-4th grade. Our youngest yogis are introduced to the world of yoga and mindfulness through stories, crafts, movement and meditation. Through the lens of yoga, kids will connect to their bodies, brains and breath, learning new ways to find both concentration and calm while having fun and making new friends. (Limit 15)

Session 2: Rise and Bloom Yoga Camp for Tween Yogis
July 8-11, 1:30-3pm
This camp is for tweens entering 5th-7th grade. Building on what they already know about yoga and mindfulness, we will explore breath, movement and meditation using games, engaging projects and partner activities. We will connect to our creativity, learn new ways to care for ourselves, and share laughter with friends along the way. (Limit 20)

Session 3: Strength and Grace Yoga Camp for Teen Yogis
August 5-8, 1:30-3pm
This camp is for teens entering 8th-10th grade. Exploring both the physical and philosophical ideas of yoga and mindfulness, we will practice connecting to our courage and compassion through movement and mediation. We will engage ideas of self-care through creative art and nature-inspired projects that will help us better tend to our moods, self-esteem, physical bodies and mental attitudes. (Limit 20)

CAMP Y-KODA ADVENTURE CAMP
Outdoor adventures in the village. Camp Y-Koda staff teach survival skills, Geocaching, Macro-nvertebrate sampling, Canoe/kayak, fishing activities.

PRINCESS CAMP
If your child loves make believe this mini-camp is the one you want! Lots of coloring, crafts and socializing. This is a great chance for your child to meet some new friends. Dress up optional.

DOLL BUGGY PARADE
Thursday, August 1 • 5:15pm
A long-standing tradition in the Village of Kohler, young children meet at the corner of School Street and Church Street to walk/ride in a one-block parade ending at the pool. Decorate bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers and wear a costume! Fun! Free popcorn at the Youth Center! No pre-registration needed.

KPAL SWIM AND DIVE MEET
Thursday, August 1 at 6pm.
Sponsored by the Kohler Police Athletic League. Annual competition for ALL swimmers and divers from kindergarten to high school. Register at the pool by July 26. No entry fee.
